Clear View News – December 1 – 5

Thanksgiving Week Break

We hope you all had a wonderful holiday and week off with family and friends. School resumes on Monday, December 1st with a regular day schedule. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school tomorrow morning.

Attendance Matters

Consistent, on time attendance is critical for all students. Please make sure your child arrives to school before 8:45 am and is prepared for the day at school.

During the month of November we had 95.62% attendance, bringing our overall average to 96.47% for the school year. Our goal is to average 96% attendance for the school year. Let’s do our best to help keep our students healthy and at school for the next three weeks leading up to winter break.

If your child is absent for any reason, please communicate the absence with Alejandra Diaz, our Attendance Secretary, via email at alejandra.diaz@cvesd.org or by phone at (619) 498-3000.

Traffic Reminders

Kinder Lot:

We understand the need for many families to park during arrival and dismissal in order to drop-off and/or pick-up their child. As you know, parking in the kinder lot is limited.

  • It is essential that everyone follows parking lot regulations and refrains from parking along red curbs, unmarked parking spots, and in the drop-off/pick-up area. This will allow traffic to flow quickly and student and families to safely enter and leave campus in this area.

We encourage the use of the Terra Nova Park parking lot or the surrounding neighborhood for families dropping off and picking up students hand to hand at the TK/Kinder area.

Drop-Off/Pick-Up Loop In Front of the School:

  • Please pull to the curb for drop-off and pick-up to avoid having students walking near moving vehicles.
  • Continue to move as far forward as possible as you work your way through the line and pick up your child. This helps the line continue to move forward.
  • Do not park in the pick-up/drop-off zone or leave your car unattended in these areas to pick up your child.

YMCA and Giving Tuesday

As we approach the holidays and Giving Tuesday, a day of global generosity which unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities, we would like to remind families and staff our school’s relationship with the YMCA. As you know, many students at Clear View Elementary participate in programs via the YMCA, including the LEAD Hub and camps housed at schools in our district during breaks. The YMCA is making a difference in our local community, whether it is by offering day camps to our students or swim lessons over the summer.

That is why we choose to support the YMCA not only with our time, but also in charitable giving. Please join our team today in making a gift to our local South Bay Family YMCA to support children, families, and seniors in our neighborhood.

You can make a donation to our school’s fundraising page in just seconds by clicking this link: https://www.classy.org/fundraiser/5932480

Every gift makes an incredible difference! Thank you for giving back to our community.

Leader in Me Family Night

You are invited to a fun-filled hour in the auditorium with your child! We’re thrilled to invite you to join us for an exciting session focused on Habit #1: Be Proactive! This habit is all about taking responsibility for your life and choices. This involves focusing your energy on what you can control (your “Circle of Influence”) rather than on things you can’t, and recognizing that your behavior is a result of your conscious decisions, not just your circumstances. During our time together, we’ll learn to recognize our emotions to better understand what we feel and why and develop the ability for empathy and compassion to understand others.

We hope to see you and your family at our Leader in Me Family Night on Wednesday for a night of connection, growth, and, of course, fun!

Please Monitor What Your Child Watches on TV, Videos, and Games

It is critically important for parents/guardians to monitor the videos, shows, and games their child is viewing and playing. Common Sense Media is a great resource for parents to learn parenting tips for the digital age. We encourage you to take a look at this resource and spend time monitoring and talking to your child about their digital consumption.
