Thanksgiving Week Break

We hope you all had a wonderful holiday and week off with family and friends. School resumes on Monday, November 27th with a regular day schedule. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school tomorrow morning.

Attendance Matters

Consistent, on time attendance is critical for all students. Please make sure your child arrives to school before 8:45 am and is prepared for the day at school.

During the month of November we have had 93.59% attendanceOur goal is to increase our average attendance to 96%. This month we have noticed an increased number of cold/flu and COVID cases. Let’s do our best to work together to keep our students healthy and at school for the next three weeks leading up to winter break.

If your child is absent for any reason, please communicate the absence with Cecilia Johnson, our Attendance Secretary, via email at cecilia.johnson@cvesd.org or by phone at (619) 498-3000.

Full House Fridays

YMCA and Giving Tuesday

As we approach the holidays and Giving Tuesday, a day of global generosity which unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities, we would like to remind families and staff our school’s relationship with the YMCA. As you know, many students at Clear View Elementary participate in programs via the YMCA, including the DASH and Junior Academy programs housed at schools in our district. The YMCA is making a difference in our local community, whether it is by offering day camps to our students or swim lessons over the summer.

That is why we choose to support the YMCA not only with our time, but also in charitable giving. Please join our team today in making a gift to our local South Bay Family YMCA to support children, families, and seniors in our neighborhood.

You can make a donation to our school’s fundraising page in just seconds by clicking this link: https://www.classy.org/fundraiser/5119048

Every gift makes an incredible difference! Thank you for giving back to our community.

Attendance Matters

Our attendance goal for the 2023-24 school year is to average 96% daily attendance. Last week our attendance was  93.78%. As we enter the cold and flu season it will be important to make sure. Let’s work together to keep our students healthy and at school by reminding and reinforcing healthy practices such as frequent hand washing, not touching mouth, nose, and eyes, eating well, and getting plenty of sleep. Every day of school matters!

If your child is absent for any reason, please communicate the absence with Cecilia Johnson, our Attendance Secretary, via email at cecilia.johnson@cvesd.org or by phone at (619) 498-3000.

Federal Survey Cards

Last week, Federal Survey Forms were distributed to students (yellow form). Please complete the form for your child and return it with your child to school as soon as possible. We are requesting that all cards are returned by Friday, November 17. If you make any corrections on the card, please initial the corrections before returning the card to school. Leader in Me Family Night

IMG_9193.jpg IMG_9198.jpg

Thank you to our staff leadership team who planned and facilitated our Leader in Me Family Night last week. We had a chance to learn more about the 7 Habits and spend time sharpening the saw as a family/school community while creating friendship bracelets and/or works or art. We hope to see you at our next Leader in Me Family Night during the third quarter!

School Site Council (SSC) Meeting

Our next SSC meeting is this Wednesday, November 15th at 3:30 via Microsoft Teams. We hope you can join us! At this meeting we share our School Safety Plan and ask for approval. All are welcome to attend. If you would like to attend the meeting, please email Ray DeVore (ray.devore@cvesd.org) for the meeting link.

Traffic Reminders

Kinder Lot:

We understand the need for many families to park during arrival and dismissal in order to drop-off and/or pick-up their child. As you know, parking in the kinder lot is limited.

  • It is essential that everyone follows parking lot regulations and refrains from parking along red curbs, unmarked parking spots, and in the drop-off/pick-up area. This will allow traffic to flow quickly and student and families to safely enter and leave campus in this area.

We encourage the use of the Terra Nova Park parking lot or the surrounding neighborhood for families dropping off and picking up students hand to hand at the TK/Kinder area.

Drop-Off/Pick-Up Loop In Front of the School:

  • Please pull to the curb for drop-off and pick-up to avoid having students walking near moving vehicles.
  • Continue to move as far forward as possible as you work your way through the line and pick up your child. This helps the line continue to move forward.
  • Do not park in the pick-up/drop-off zone or leave your car unattended in these areas to pick up your child.
