Clear View Weekly News – December 16-20

Happy Holidays

It’s hard to believe that the first half of the 2019-20 school year is coming to a close. We have had a fantastic first half of our school year! We would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you for your partnership this year. It is through our teamwork that we can have the biggest impact on the academic and personal growth of your child(ren). We wish you a wonderful holiday season and a happy New Year. Please remember that our winter break begins on Monday, December 22 and continues through January 13.

Leader in Me

For the final two weeks of the quarter we will be focusing on Habit 5: Seek first to understand, then to be understood. The premise of Habit 5 is that we have greater influence with others if we understand them first. This habit requires us to practice “empathic listening” (paying attention to another person with empathy). At home, spend some time talking about and working on the following skills:

  • Listening without interrupting
  • Attempting to understanding problems before attempting to solve them
  • When listening, trying to see things from the other person’s point of view, not just your own

Report Cards

Quarter 2 report cards will be sent home at the end of the week.

Lost and Found

With the end of the quarter and winter break quickly approaching, please stop by the Lost and Found to recover any of child’s misplaced belongings.

Upcoming Events:

Gratitude

As we conclude the week of Thanksgiving, it is fitting to express some of the things we have to be grateful for at Clear View. First, we have an amazing group of students who continue to amaze us academically and as emerging leaders. They truly make each day rewarding. We also have a topnotch staff who work collaboratively and invest a great deal of effort to serve our students and families in whatever role they play. The dedication and passion they demonstrate on a daily basis makes a difference. In addition to our student and staff, we have been fortunate to have a number of parents graciously volunteer their time to either help teachers, the office staff, or the school community. In particular, we would like to thank our PTA, SSC members, and ELAC who serve our school community on a regular basis. Overall, we appreciate the partnership we have between the school and our families.

We have a wonderful surprise (which we are extremely grateful for) for our students. CVESD is replaced our play structure! They have worked on it during the break and in order for it to be ready for students to use.

We look forward to having our students back to school on Monday, December 2nd at 8:45.

Holiday Toy Drive

During the holidays, the Chula Vista Police Activities League partners with the Chula Vista Welfare Council and our District for the Annual Toy Drive benefiting CVESD students and their families. The toy drive will continue through December 4. There is a donation bin in front office. All toy donations will directly benefit CVESD students and families.

Leader in Me

This week we will continue to focus on Habit #4: Think Win-Win. This habit is about working together with others in order to achieve the highest results possible. It’s about embracing a mindset that focuses on cooperation, not competition. According to Dr. Covey, it is essential to think win-win in order to manage our relationships with others effectively. This week, consider how you and your student(s) can collaborate about decisions that need to be made and discuss ways that you can implement the idea of thinking win-win.
