Clear View News – October 30 – November 3

We had a great Red Ribbon Week/Spirit Week at Clear View last week! Thank you to our PTA for providing a magic show assembly for students, which reinforced the importance of living drug free. Throughout the week we had a lot of fun seeing our student and staff participation in our spirit week, culminating with our annual costume parade on Friday morning.

Our spirit week continues this week on Tuesday, October 31 with our “Wear Black and Orange” to school day. We will also have our 3rd annual pumpkin parade on Tuesday; students can bring a decorated pumpkin to school. We line our hallways and center courtyard with decorated pumpkins for students to view throughout the day. The class with the most pumpkins will win a treat! Students will take their pumpkins home at the end of the day. Below are a few pictures from last year’s pumpkin parade:

We want to thank the Clear View community for joining us for our annual Harvest Festival on Friday. It was a spectacular evening of family fun! The Harvest Festival was well attended; we enjoyed seeing so many of our students, families, and Voyager alumni at the event.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Clear View PTA for putting on this amazing event. Their hours of planning, preparation, and hard work was evident and was instrumental in putting together such an amazing event! We also want to thank all of the volunteers and staff for their efforts and role in making the event the success that it was. It was truly a joy to have our school community gather together for the Harvest Festival once again this year. Thank you all once again for a memorable night!

Clear View Elementary School will participate in a nationwide campaign entitled Red Ribbon Week. Our goal is to proactively create student awareness pertaining to problems related to the use of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs. The national theme this year is “Be Kind to Your Mind, Live Drug Free”. This week is also a wonderful opportunity for your family to discuss issues like peer pressure and making the right choices for a healthy future.

Attendance Matters

As you know, school attendance is so important for each individual. When children are absent from school, they miss out on consistent instruction that is needed to develop basic skills.

Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school, or 18 school days throughout the school year, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. Building the habits of good attendance now will positively impact their futures in the school setting and job market. By 6th grade, chronic absenteeism becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school. If your child is sick, keep them home…if not, be ensure they come to school on time school every day. Miss a day, miss a lot!

Welcome Back!

Quarter 2 BeginsWe hope that you had a safe and enjoyable break! We are looking forward to seeing students and families back on campus soon.

As a reminder, school resumes on Tuesday, October 10 with a minimum day schedule. All students in grades TK – 6th grade will be dismissed at 2:07 PM.

See you all on Tuesday!

Attendance Matters

Positive school attendance is critical for each student. At Clear View we have set the goal of 96% daily attendance for the year. We are off to a great start toward reaching this goal; we finished the first quarter with an average of 95.74% daily attendance!

With the start of a new quarter, we encourage all families to recommit to putting practices and routines in place at home to ensure that your student is well rested and ready to attend school on time each day.

This quarter we will continue to promote positive attendance. Let’s help each student get off to a great start to the quarter by being at school and ready to learn every morning.

When children are absent from school, they miss out on consistent instruction that is needed to develop basic skills.
