Trunk or Treat

We would like to say thank you to the Clear View school community for joining us at our Trunk or Treat on Friday and helping us make this event possible. We had over 40 decorated trunks, a ton of candy donations, and many volunteers working hard behind the scenes. It was a true joy to have our school community together for an evening of fun!

Red Ribbon Week Spirit Day and Pumpkin Parade

October 31st Spirit Day: Wear Black and Orange – Pump-kin the Spirit Up Against Drugs

Pumpkin Decorating: bring a decorated pumpkin to school on Monday, October 31st for our second annual Pumpkin Parade

Arrival and Dismissal Traffic Reminders

  • Please pull to the curb for drop-off and pick-up to avoid having students walking near moving vehicles.
  • Continue to move as far forward as possible as you work your way through the line and pick up your child. This helps the line continue to move forward.
  • Please do not park in the pick-up/drop-off zone or leave your car unattended in these areas to pick up your child.
  • The bus zone is designated for buses only; please do not drop off, pick up, or park in this area
  • The staff parking lot is reserved for staff parking and access to the YMCA only. This is not a pick up and drop off lot. Cars cued up in this area at the start of the day and during dismissal are causing staff to be unable to access parking spots and/or leave the parking lot.
  • We encourage families to walk or carpool to school whenever possible. This helps reduce the number of cars driving to campus daily.
  • We encourage the use of the Terra Nova Park parking lot for families dropping off and picking up students hand to hand at the TK/Kinder gate.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during our drop-off and dismissal time.  We also appreciate you modeling appropriate and courteous behavior for our Voyagers at all times.

Attendance Matters

Consistent, on time attendance is essential for all students. Please make sure your child arrives to school before 8:45 a.m. and is prepared for the day at school. If your child is absent for any reason, please communicate with Cecilia Johnson, our Attendance Secretary (cecilia.johnson@cvesd.org; (619) 498-3000).

Over the past week, we have noticed an increased number of cold/flu and COVID cases. Let’s work together to keep our students healthy and at school by reminding and reinforcing healthy practices such as frequent hand washing, not touching mouth, nose, and eyes, eating well, and getting plenty of sleep.

Trunk or Treat

Attention families: we are planning to host a trunk or treat event for our school community on Friday, October 28 from 4:00-6:00 PM. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to decorate your car and help pass out candy. At this time, we need your help in the following ways:

  • We kindly ask for your help with candy donations for our upcoming Trunk or Treat. Each classroom will be collecting bags of candy this week. The class with the most pounds of candy collected by the end of the day on Thursday, October 27 will win a prize. Please, no hard candy, lollipops, or gum. Thank you!

Red Ribbon Week/Spirit Week

Clear View Elementary School will participate in a nationwide campaign entitled Red Ribbon Week. Our goal is to proactively create student awareness pertaining to problems related to the use of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs. The national theme this year is “Celebrate Life, Live Drug Free”. This week is also a wonderful opportunity for your family to discuss issues like peer pressure and making the right choices for a healthy future.

We invite everyone to participate in our Red Ribbon Spirit Week (developed by our Student Lighthouse Team), where you can actively engage in a series of the fun, thematic days!

Green Meal Application Forms

Although school meals are available for students for no cost again this year, we are requesting all of our families to submit the green meal application form (sent home last week to all who have yet to submit it) which determines the State and Federal funding that schools receive. This funding provides students with support and resources for their academic success. The deadline to return forms is Friday, October 28.

Thank you for your help with this!

Attendance Matters

As you know, school attendance is so important for each individual. When children are absent from school, they miss out on consistent instruction that is needed to develop basic skills.

Thank you for your support and commitment to ensuring that your child comes to school on time each day. Last week our attendance dropped from 95.91 to 94.09%. Let’s work together this week toward moving our daily attendance to 96%.

Upcoming

October 31 Pumpkin Decorating – Pump-kin the spirt up against drugs. Students can bring a decorated pumpkin for our 2nd annual Pumpkin Parade. More details to come soon.
