Clear View News – January 29 – February 2

Attendance Matters

School attendance matters! This year we are focused on increasing awareness of the importance of daily attendance and helping all students build a habit of good attendance early.

Last week we had 91.87% daily attendance. Let’s do our best to get back on track toward our goal of 96% attendance.

Arrival and Dismissal Traffic Reminders

There are a few arrival/dismissal protocols we want to highlight. First, we have recently observed cars parked and left unattended in the drop-off/pick-up loop, which has impacted the flow of traffic. It is important that drivers remain in their vehicles to keep the flow of traffic moving forward. Additionally, we been seeing dogs/pets in the grass area in front of the school where students wait as well as near the entry onto campus. As a reminder, pets are not allowed on campus. Please adhere to these protocols to help us ensure all students can enter and exit the school campus quickly and safely.

Below is a reminder of our drop-off and pick-up procedures:

  • Please pull to the curb for drop-off and pick-up to avoid having students walking near moving vehicles.
  • Continue to move as far forward as possible as you work your way through the line and pick up your child. This helps the line continue to move forward.
  • Please do not park in the pick-up/drop-off zone or leave your car unattended in these areas to pick up your child.
  • The bus zone is designated for buses only; please do not park in this area or double park in the bus zone.
  • We encourage families to walk or carpool to school whenever possible. This helps reduce the number of cars driving to campus daily.
  • We encourage the use of the Terra Nova Park parking lot for families dropping off and picking up students hand to hand at the TK/Kinder gate.

Thank you for your cooperation with following these procedures during drop-off and dismissal.  We appreciate you modeling appropriate and courteous behavior for our Voyagers at all times.

COVID-19 Guidance Update

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and SDCOE have updated the COVID-19 guidance. The updated guidance will allow individuals to follow a more symptom-based approach than usual for other illnesses. Individuals who develop symptoms and test positive must stay home for 24 hours from the onset. A child with COVID-19 can return to school if their symptoms are mild and improving and they have had no fever for 24 hours. Students are no longer required to stay home for five days.

Students and staff must follow the masking guidance below:

  • Student masking indoors is strongly recommended through day ten after testing positive.
  • Staff masking indoors is required through day ten after testing positive per CAL/OSHA.
  • Symptom onset is day zero. If there are no symptoms, day zero is the test collection date. Individuals who have symptoms and test positive must stay home for at least 24 hours from the onset of symptoms.
  • The potential infectious period is two days before symptoms begin or the positive test date (if no symptoms) through day ten. (Day 0 is the symptom onset date or positive test date).
  • For any additional questions, please email covtest4@cvesd.org.

Clear View News – January 8 – 12

Welcome Back to the Third Quarter!

Happy New Year, Voyagers! We are excited to welcome students, staff, and families back to school for the start of the third quarter on Wednesday, January 10. We hope that you and your loved ones had a fantastic and safe holiday season. Wednesday, January 10 will be a minimum day for all TK – 6th grade students (8:45 – 2:07). We are looking forward to seeing you all back at school on Wednesday morning.

Attendance Matters

Positive school attendance is critical for each student. At Clear View we have set the goal of 96% daily attendance for the year. We are off to a great start and have our goal within reach; we finished the first semester with an average of 95.22% daily attendance!

With the start of a new quarter, we encourage all families to recommit to putting practices and routines in place at home to ensure that your student is well rested and ready to attend school on time each day.

This quarter we will continue to promote positive attendance. Let’s help each student get off to a great start to the quarter by being at school and ready to learn every morning.

When children are absent from school, they miss out on consistent instruction that is needed to develop basic skills.

Attendance Celebrations

We would like to recognize and congratulate the following classes for having a daily attendance rate above 96% throughout the first semester: Mrs. Torrice, Mr. Quezada, Sra. Guevara, Sra. Quezada, Mrs. Vinland, Sra. Yescas, Mrs. Petrosian, Mrs. LeHardy, Sra. Manriquez. Our top attendance rate in primary was 97% (Sra. Guevara) and 97% (Mr. Quezada) in upper grades. Fantastic job!

A Look Ahead: Spring Calendar

As we begin the second half of the school year, we enter the time of year where students solidify their learning of grade level content and demonstrate their understanding on state and local assessments. Please review the school calendar; school days are highlighted in yellow. Please plan your family vacations during school breaks.

Key breaks include:

  • Presidents Day Weekend – February 16 – 19
  • Spring Break: March 18 – April 1
  • Memorial Day Weekend – May 24 – 27

Traffic Reminders

We want to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during arrival and dismissal. As you know, we have many vehicles that access our parking lot and drop-off/pick-up areas each morning and afternoon.

General Drop-Off/Pick-Up Procedures:

  • Please pull to the curb for drop-off and pick-up to avoid having students walking near moving vehicles.
  • Continue to move as far forward as possible as you work your way through the line and pick up your child. This helps the line continue to move forward.
  • Please do not park in the pick-up/drop-off zone or leave your car unattended in these areas to pick up your child.
  • The bus zone (pictured here) is designated for buses only; please do not park in this area or double park in the bus zone.
  • We encourage families to walk or carpool to school whenever possible. This helps reduce the number of cars driving to campus daily.

Kinder Lot:

We understand the need for many families to park during arrival and dismissal in order to drop-off and/or pick-up their child. As you know, parking in the kinder lot is limited.

  • It is essential that everyone follows parking lot regulations and refrains from parking along red curbs, unmarked parking spots, and in the drop-off/pick-up area. This will allow traffic to flow quickly and student and families to safely enter and leave campus in this area.
  • We encourage the use of the Terra Nova Park parking lot or the surrounding neighborhood for families dropping off and picking up students hand to hand at the TK/Kinder area.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during our drop-off and dismissal time.  We also appreciate you modeling appropriate and courteous behavior for our Voyagers at all times.
