Attendance Matters
School attendance matters! This year we are focused on increasing awareness of the importance of daily attendance and helping all students build a habit of good attendance early.
Last week we had 91.87% daily attendance. Let’s do our best to get back on track toward our goal of 96% attendance.
Arrival and Dismissal Traffic Reminders
There are a few arrival/dismissal protocols we want to highlight. First, we have recently observed cars parked and left unattended in the drop-off/pick-up loop, which has impacted the flow of traffic. It is important that drivers remain in their vehicles to keep the flow of traffic moving forward. Additionally, we been seeing dogs/pets in the grass area in front of the school where students wait as well as near the entry onto campus. As a reminder, pets are not allowed on campus. Please adhere to these protocols to help us ensure all students can enter and exit the school campus quickly and safely.
Below is a reminder of our drop-off and pick-up procedures:
- Please pull to the curb for drop-off and pick-up to avoid having students walking near moving vehicles.
- Continue to move as far forward as possible as you work your way through the line and pick up your child. This helps the line continue to move forward.
- Please do not park in the pick-up/drop-off zone or leave your car unattended in these areas to pick up your child.
- The bus zone is designated for buses only; please do not park in this area or double park in the bus zone.
- We encourage families to walk or carpool to school whenever possible. This helps reduce the number of cars driving to campus daily.
- We encourage the use of the Terra Nova Park parking lot for families dropping off and picking up students hand to hand at the TK/Kinder gate.
Thank you for your cooperation with following these procedures during drop-off and dismissal. We appreciate you modeling appropriate and courteous behavior for our Voyagers at all times.

COVID-19 Guidance Update
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and SDCOE have updated the COVID-19 guidance. The updated guidance will allow individuals to follow a more symptom-based approach than usual for other illnesses. Individuals who develop symptoms and test positive must stay home for 24 hours from the onset. A child with COVID-19 can return to school if their symptoms are mild and improving and they have had no fever for 24 hours. Students are no longer required to stay home for five days.
Students and staff must follow the masking guidance below:
- Student masking indoors is strongly recommended through day ten after testing positive.
- Staff masking indoors is required through day ten after testing positive per CAL/OSHA.
- Symptom onset is day zero. If there are no symptoms, day zero is the test collection date. Individuals who have symptoms and test positive must stay home for at least 24 hours from the onset of symptoms.
- The potential infectious period is two days before symptoms begin or the positive test date (if no symptoms) through day ten. (Day 0 is the symptom onset date or positive test date).
- For any additional questions, please email covtest4@cvesd.org.
