Thank you to the the entire Clear View community for a great first quarter! Fall Break begins on September 26 and runs through October 10. School resumes on Tuesday, October 11. We hope you and your family have a fantastic break!

 

 

Smarty Ants/Achieve3000 and iReady Break Challenge

Smarty Ants – Early Literacy for PreK Learners – Idaho Commission for LibrariesI-Ready - Curriculum - South River Public Schools

We want to announce that over fall break (September 26 – October 10) we will be offering a voluntary challenge to all of our students. Each student who completes the weekly reading (Smarty Ants or Achieve3000) AND math (iReady) goal over fall break will be entered into an opportunity drawing in which one student from each grade level (TK – 6th grade) will be randomly selected to receive $20 in Scholastic Bucks to use on the scholastic website. Below are the goals which must be met in order to be entered into the opportunity drawing:

Goal for TK Students

Smarty Ants  – Use the program for a total of 150 (2 hours and 30 minutes) or more minutes

*TK students do not use iReady yet so they only need to complete the Smarty Ants goal to be eligible

Goal for Kinder – 2nd Grade Students

Smarty Ants  – Use the program for a total of 150 (2 hours and 30 minutes) or more minutes

iReady – 90 (1 hour and 30 minutes) or more minutes on the program

*Second grade students using Achieve3000 can substitute the Smarty Ants goal (above) for the Achieve3000 goal (below)

Goal for 3rd – 6th Grade Students

Achieve3000  – Complete at least four activities with a score of 75% or better on the first attempt

iReady – 90 (1 hour and 30 minutes) or more minutes on the program

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences continue this week. Remember that we will be on minimum day schedule for the entire week; students in grades TK – 6th grade will be dismissed at 2:07. Please make every effort to attend your scheduled conference to discuss your child’s progress.

School Attendance Month

School attendance matters! The Chula Vista Elementary School District is recognizing September as National Attendance Month to raise awareness of the importance of students attending class daily to help all our students build a habit of good attendance early and often.

Over the past two weeks we have had 95.66% and 94.6% attendance respectively. Our goal this week is to increase our attendance about 96%. Please help us obtain this goal by making sure your child comes to school on time each day.

6th Grade Fundraiser

6th Grade is hosting a fundraiser at El Pollo Grill on Monday, September 12.  Present the flyer when ordering to help our 6th graders get 25% of your order towards their camp cost!  This is a fundraising opportunity that will be of great help to our students!
In order for your order to count toward this fundraising opportunity, please present this flyer when you order. The paper flyer send home on Friday or a digital copy of the flyer will suffice.

English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) Meeting

Our first ELAC meeting of the school year is on Wednesday, September 14 at 9:00 am in the auditorium. If you are a parent of an English Language Learner, we highly encourage you to be part of our ELAC and attend our meetings. In addition to pertinent information and trainings that will help parents of all children, the role of the ELAC includes:

  • Advising the principal and staff in the development of a site plan for English learners
  • Assisting in the development of the schoolwide needs assessment
  • Developing ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance

We hope you will join us on Wednesday. All parents are welcome to come to our ELAC meetings; you do not need to be the parent of an English Language Learner to attend.

School Site Council (SSC) Meeting

Our next SSC meeting of the school year will be held on Wednesday, September 14th at 3:30 pm via Microsoft Teams. All are welcome to attend. Please email Mr. DeVore at ray.devore@cvesd.org if you would like the link to join our meeting.

On Tuesday we had a virtual association meeting to elect our PTA board for the 2022-23 school year.
