COVID-19 Home Testing Kit Distribution Update

Good morning Clear View Families,

In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, CVESD has provided a test kit to distribute to families, for each enrolled student in TK – 6th grade.

This week CVESD updated our COVID-19 Home Testing Kit distribution guidance.  With the new guidance, parents/guardians will need to pick-up the test kit at Clear View; at-home COVID-19 test kits WILL NOT be sent home with your child.

We will be distributing free, at-home COVID-19 test kits for students this week on Thursday and Friday. Parents/guardians can pick up a test kit for their child at the following times and locations:

Test Kit Pick-Up Times

  • Thursday, March 17:
    • 8:00-9:00 am (at the gate near the front office)
    • 2:00-2:30 pm (at the gate near the front office)
    • 2:30-5:00 pm (drive-through pick-up at the loop in front of the school)
  • Friday, March 18:
    • 8:00-9:00 am (at the gate near the front office)
    • 2:00-2:30 pm (at the gate near the front office)
    • 2:30-4:00 pm (drive-through pick-up at the loop in front of the school)

Testing is encouraged for all students before returning to school on April 4th. Positive results should be reported to CVESD using the QR code provided with the test kit as well as our school office by emailing our Attendance Health Secretary, Mrs. Cecilia Johnson at cecilia.johnson@cvesd.org

Thank you for helping keep our school safe!

Kindly,

Ray DeVore

COVID Updates

At the CVESD Board Meeting last week it was decided that beginning on Monday, March 21, 2022 all students and staff in Chula Vista Elementary Schools will no longer be required to wear a mask indoors, although it is still strongly recommended. All students and staff will continue to wear masks indoors this week. Please read the communication below sent out by our superintendent, Dr. Reyes, regarding the optional mask indoors after spring break and the CVESD COVID 19 Newsletter.

At Home COVID Test Kit Distribution

We will be distributing at-home Covid-19 testing kits for students in TK through 6th grade this week so that you can test your student prior to returning from Spring Break. We will send the kits home with students this week on Thursday, so please check your child’s backpack. If you do not wish to keep the test, you may send the test back to school on Friday, March 18th.

COVID Updates

With decreasing COVID-19 positive cases, reduced hospitalizations, and more individuals being vaccinated, we are re-examining our mask mandates.  As you are aware, CVESD has lifted the requirement to wear masks outdoors at school. This policy update took effect on Monday, February 28th. Of course, any student or staff member who feels more comfortable wearing a mask while outdoors at school is welcome to continue to do so.  At this time, we will continue to mandate the wearing of masks indoors for all students and adults.

The Chula Vista Elementary School District is meeting this week with multiple stakeholder groups and experts to determine how we will move forward with the masking guidance as a District once the state indoor masking requirement expires on 3/12/22. CVESD will be providing all stakeholder input and information to the governing board at the next board meeting on March 9, 2022, so they can make the best-informed decision regarding indoor masking for students and staff.
