Health Reminder and Attendance Information

It has been great having many of our students back on campus! As always, please contact our Attendance Health Specialist, Margarita Martinez, if your student will be absent from school for any reason, regardless of whether they are in hybrid or distance learning. Please call or email margarita.martinez@cvesd.org with the reason for your child’s absence.

Please note, for students physically at school in hybrid learning, it is very important that parents/guardians speak with our office staff regarding the reason for any student absence from class.  For the health and safety of all students and staff, students who are absent without parent contact will not be allowed back on campus until the parent/guardian discusses the reason for the absence with school office staff.

  • If a student is sick, we will ask the parent to confirm which symptoms the student is experiencing.
  • If symptoms align with symptoms of COVID-19, the school will follow the COVID-19 Decision Tree in collaboration with the school site nurse or attendance health specialist.
  • If symptoms are part of a chronic condition, the school will work with the school site nurse to determine next steps.
  • If symptoms are not a possible symptom of COVID-19, the student will be welcomed back to school after following normal school health protocols.

We look forward to an amazing rest of our school year. Thank you for your support of our learning environment.

COVID-19 Testing at Clear View

Last week you should have received (through email and/or text message) information on how to register for your child to get tested for COVID-19 at our school site. You will not need to make an appointment for testing at our school sites.  Our schools will provide on-demand testing, which means that we are accepting “walk-ins”—no appointments are necessary. Here is important information on the CVESD COVID-19 Testing Program:

  • Testing will occur at Clear View on the following days: April 28th , May 12th & 26th, and June 9th
  • On these days, testing will occur from 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with no testing from 10:50 – 11:20 due to staff lunch times.
  • If your student is experiencing symptoms, we highly recommend getting a PCR test at a free County facility or with a medical provider, and not reporting to the school for the antigen test. Unfortunately, the antigen tests used by CVESD cannot be used for return to work or school, per the County’s Symptom Decision Tree. The antigen testing program is for surveillance purposes, in order to quickly determine if individuals are positive and remove such individuals and their close contacts from campus as soon as possible. Contact our school health office for more information or discuss your child’s symptoms.
  • At this time, we can only test staff and CVESD students. No family members are able test at this time.
  • You do not need to be with your child in order for your child to test under our program; however, if your child walks up to the testing location, we will not be able to test them unless you have signed the on-line consent form at the link you are provided. We highly recommend that you accompany your child to the testing location.
  • Links that are sent to you are personalized for your specific student and shouldn’t be shared with others.
  • If you have trouble registering/providing consent for your child through the link, please call the district office at (619) 425-9600 and speak to Sherry Stone at ext. 1327 or Theresa Fletcher at ext. 1027 or visit the testing staff on-site at our school and they will be able to help register and test your child during your visit.
  • Because we are not taking appointments, we know there may be long lines before and after school. Please take this into account when planning the time have your child tested.   Please be patient with the testing team and listen carefully to their instructions.
  • If your child is attending in-person hybrid and you are planning to participate in the testing program, please plan to do so before or after class. Students will not be excused from class to participate.

Thank you for supporting our efforts to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus on our campus.

Thank you to our staff, parents, and students for helping ensure that our transition to in-person learning was smooth. Our Voyagers did an amazing job of following our safety procedures and protocols while on campus.

Please review the following reminders to help ensure a successful second week of school:

  • Please pick up your child on time:
    • AM cohort pickup – 11:30 – 11:40 a.m.
    • PM cohort pickup – 3:15 – 3:25 p.m.

  • If a student is sent home from school or is absent because they exhibit COVID-19 symptoms, they will not be allowed back on campus for 10 days or until they receive a negative COVID-19 PCR and their symptoms are improving.  The COVID-19 test must be a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.

In-Person Hybrid Begins Monday, April 12

The Clear View teachers and staff can’t wait to welcome students back on campus for in-person instruction on Monday. All families should know their child’s placement (in-person hybrid or distance learning), which cohort they will be attending (AM or PM) if they are returning in-person, and the name of their teacher. Up to this point we have confirmed parent preferences and have made adjustments to placement as space allowed. Please note, we will not make any changes at this time.

Below is our Monday – Thursday hybrid schedule. Please take note the following:

  • It is important that all families know the drop-off and pick-up times
  • Gates open 20 minutes before class begins
  • AM Cohort may arrive anytime between 8:35– 8:50 a.m.; class begins at 8:55 a.m.
  • PM Cohort arrival anytime between 12:20- 12:35 p.m.; class begins at 12:40 p.m.

All students, regardless of their placement (hybrid or distance learning), will be in distance learning on Fridays. Students will receive 155 minutes of synchronous instruction and will be assigned asynchronous instruction/work for the remainder of the daily minutes. Distance learning will begin at 8:45 AM on Fridays.

We have three main entry and exit points which we will refer to as the BLUE, YELLOW, and GREEN Gates:

Drop-Off/Drop-Off Key Points:

  • All walkers and students being dropped off by parents on foot in grades 1st-6th will go through the “Walkers, drop-off” gate in the BLUE area
  • All vehicle drop-off and pick-up will take place at either the YELLOW or GREEN Gate depending the child’s grade level                                                                       *Students will be screened at the car
  • Siblings can be dropped off and picked up together at the youngest child’s gate (i.e. if you have both a 1st and 5th grader, they will both be dropped off and picked up at the YELLOW gate)
  • Parents picking up their child on foot at the YELLOW Gate will wait for their child in the large grass area south of the front office; parents of SDC students can line up outside the SDC Gate

4th Quarter Begins

We hope that you all had a fantastic spring break.  The Clear View staff and I are excited about the start of the fourth quarter and the opportunity to welcome back some of our Voyagers for in-person learning on April 12th.  All students will be continuing with distance learning the week of April 5th; during this week all students will be receiving 3 hours of synchronous instruction.

Your child’s current teachers will be emailing you on Tuesday, April 6th to share your child’s classroom assignment beginning on April 12th. Rosters were based on survey data and confirmation of parent preference during conference week. Due to space, we may not be able to accommodate any changes at this time. If you wish to make a change of placement prior to April 12, please contact the school office directly and our staff will do its best to accommodate any changes, pending availability and space.

COVID-19 Testing

This is the period after spring break, and before the start of hybrid instruction on April 12. Testing will be available 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with no testing taking place between 12 noon and 1 p.m. The dates and locations are:

Testing is voluntary. Participants have the option of only doing one of the tests or both, and they are offered at no cost (covered through health insurance or reimbursable to testing provider Kahala Biosciences under the CARES Act for those who do not have insurance). Per requests, immediate family/household members are also eligible to participate. To schedule an appointment, please click here or cut and paste the following into your web browser: https://kahalabiosciences.com/cvesd-safe/
