The Clear View staff would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for your partnership throughout the first half of this year. Together we can make the biggest impact on the academic and personal growth of our students.

We wish you a fantastic holiday season and a happy New Year. Please remember that our winter break begins on Monday, December 20. School resumes on January 11 (minimum day).

Smarty Ants/Achieve3000 and iReady Break Challenge

We want to announce now that over the winter break (December 20 – January 9) we will be offering a voluntary challenge to all of our students (Kindergarten – 6th grade). Each student who completes the following reading (Smarty Ants or Achieve3000) AND math (iReady) goals over the winter break will be entered into an opportunity drawing in which the two students from each grade level (K – 6th grade) will be randomly selected to receive $20 in Scholastic Bucks to use on the scholastic website. Below are the goals which must be met in order to be entered into the opportunity drawing:

Goal for Kinder – 2nd Grade Students

Smarty Ants  – Use the program for a total of 180 (3 hours) or more minutes

iReady – 120 (2 hours) or more minutes on the program

Goal for 3rd – 6th Grade Students

Achieve3000  – Complete at least 5 activities with a score of 75% or better on the first attempt

iReady 120 (2 hours) or more minutes on the program

Last Week of Quarter 2

It is hard to believe that this is the last week of the second quarter. We are proud of our students and the growth they have made so far this year academically and as leaders!

Report cards will be sent home with students at the end of the week. Winter break begins on Monday, December 20; school resumes on Tuesday, January 11.

Habit Celebration Spirit Week

Lost and Found

Please be sure to have you child check the lost and found for any items that may be missing. Any unclaimed items will be donated over the winter break.

We recommend putting your child’s name on the items that are brought to schools (i.e. lunch box, backpack, water bottle, sweatshirt/jacket, etc.).

Coaching Intramural Sports at Clear View

We are excited to announce that CVESD intramural sports will resume for students this year! In anticipation of the upcoming CVESD volleyball, basketball, and soccer seasons, we need volunteers in order to have teams at Clear View; we would love to have sports teams at Clear View again this year. If you are interested in coaching one of our teams or willing to assist a head coach, please contact Mr. DeVore (ray.devore@cvesd.org).

Make Up Picture Day

For students who missed our fall picture day in September, our make up picture day is scheduled for Tuesday, December 7. Our photography vendor this year once again is Life Touch.

English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) Meeting

Our next ELAC meeting will be on Tuesday, December 7th at 3:30 via Microsoft Teams.

If you are a parent of an English Language Learner, we highly encourage you to be part of our ELAC and attend our meetings. In addition to pertinent information and trainings that will help parents of all children, the role of the ELAC includes:

  • Advising the principal and staff in the development of a site plan for English learners
  • Assisting in the development of the schoolwide needs assessment
  • Developing ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance

COVID Safety Reminders

The CVESD Board of Education requires masks to be worn on all sites within the Chula Vista Elementary School District, regardless of vaccination status. Masks must cover the mouth and nose for all staff, students, parents, and visitors on campus. Students may remove masks for outdoor recess and PE, and staff, students, and visitors may remove masks only when eating or drinking.

If your child experiences any symptoms of COVID-19 or has been identified as a close contact of someone (off campus) who tested positive for COVID, please keep your child home and contact the school office at (619) 498-3000.

Any individual presenting with symptoms of COVID-19 while at school will be sent home and may only return with a negative PCR/NAAT test and improving symptoms.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Free COVID-19 Testing at Two CVESD Locations

Please note that hours of testing have shifted as of December 2021 — The Chula Vista Elementary School District is offering free COVID-19 testing for students and staff at the following locations:

Education Services and Support Center at 84 East J Street, Chula Vista 91910

  • Monday – Thursday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (line closes to walk ups at 3:40 PM)
  • Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (line closes to walk ups at 3:40 PM)

Hedenkamp Elementary School at 930 East Palomar Street, Chula Vista 91913

  • Monday – Thursday 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (line closes to walk ups at 2:30 PM)
  • Friday 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM (line closes to walk ups at 2:30 PM)
